American Bandit originated in business manufacturing commercial bottom fishing reels in 1986. Over the years we produced many reels but eventually stopped due to lack of demand from the shrinking industry. Recently we have had interests from small boat owners and Greenstick fishermen for a versatile yet rugged reel that can stand up to the demands of deepwater bottom fishing and trolling. We have manual , electric and hydraulic reels for any application.
Even though we normally custom build each reel we do have a standardized manual reel that is virtually indestructible. All of our reels have at a minimum, 1” stainless steel main axle , stainless steel line spool, duel 4” or 5” drag clutches , 5/8” round X 4’ fiberglass with a 4” Loomis pulley( Sheave) . Our aluminum frames are treated with Alodine, then Zinc Chromate primer and then a top coat of Epoxy paint.
Since Greenstick Fishing started making it’s way into the U.S. we are pleased that we have had the opportunity to work with tuna boats to design reels specifically for there applications. Thus far we have built electric, worm gear drives capable of holding up to a mile of 800# test. School is not out by any means and we eagerly look forward to whatever special request you may have.
